Sugar cookies cut into flower shapes - before baking, insert lollipop sticks or short skewers
Frosting: tint in spring shades of yellow & pink
Mentos Sours and Mixed Fruit flavors (available at Amazon.com)
Airheads candy bars in Strawberry, Cherry, Green Apple or Watermelon (available at OldTimeCandy.com)
Directions:
Frost the cookies & place pink, yellow & green Mentos in the middle of each cookie.
Cut each Airheads bar into thin strips & roll strips to round edges.
For “looped” petals, fold Airheads strip into teardrop shape fitting to petal, cut off excess and press into frosting with pointed end facing the center of the flower. Repeat for each petal.
For “curly” petal, wind Airheads strip around a skewer or toothpick. Carefully slide curl off and press into frosting on the petal, repeat for each petal. Tip: If the Airheads are hard to cut, take them out of their wrappers and place them on a microwave-safe plate. Warm them slightly in the microwave on Low for 10 seconds.
For the culinarily adventurous who come equipped with an icecream maker, Cupcake Bakeshop offers these words of caution: "This recipe takes days to make and requires an ice cream machine. The good news is that you can make it significantly easier on yourself by purchasing high quality ice cream and making only the cake and frosting." Consider yourself warned. via (Slashfood)
