Customer Review: EXCELLENT book for foster/adopting parents!
This is truly an excellent book. Book covers in detail, ALL involved regarding fostering or adopting children. Covers from the childs initial contact with the agency until adulthood when they start to seek their birth parents. The book also includes not only the parents emotional involvement with the placement process but the grandparents, and foster parents. A - When traveling, most would not agree with “the more, the merrier.” But it can be! Well, it should be. Traveling with the family can be hassle- free and loaded with fun. There is no reason you shouldn’t bring the kids and the entire family with you. Here are a few tips you can use for an easy, stress- free travel.

B - I was scared to give my baby her first bath, but being totally prepared made it a smooth and special event! After bathing her and two newborns after her I’m a pro, but that basic set-up is still essential to newborn bathing success!

C - Christmas is a season of joy and celebrations. It is a season where you show your love to fellow friends, family and dear ones in the form of Christmas gifts. And it is the children of your life that especially look forward to receiving Christmas gifts. In fact, the gifts are the highlights of Christmas for them

Western European Education Sector, 2005, Vertical Specific Solutions Baby Adoption and Investment Plans: An IDC Survey

Industry-specific solutions are key elements in the modernization of the education sector, which, on the one hand, must manage long student life cycles and, on the other hand, need to optimize allocation of resources to limit expenditure. IDC survey suggests that growth of investment will be sustained both in primary/secondary schools and higher education institutions with some expected differences.

In this study, IDC provides an analysis of results of the IDC Vertical Market Survey carried out in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K. The results are based on 90 interviews in the education market. This study analyzes investment priorities and 2005 investment plans for industry-specific solutions.

“IT vendors that want to gain a share of the education market must offer student management systems, portals, and digital learning content. The primary geographical target must be the U.K.,” said Massimiliano Claps, program manager, European Vertical Markets.

Beating the Baby Adoption Game

Customer Review: Do Your Homework ” Read This Book!
As the parent of two adopted children I read this book with mixed thoughts.

We are an older couple that wanted to adopt infants. We were told that we were asking the impossible, even as a mixed-race couple (Asian/European) in a state that historically has had a hard time placing mixed race children (specifically African/European or African/Hispanic). In fact these children are so hard to place locally they are considered to be “special needs children” along with the physically and mentally handicapped!

However, despite our ages and various ailments, 7 months almost to the day of first walking in through the door of the agency we were the proud protectors of a 15-day old baby girl. Two years, two months and two days later, our son came to us through the same agency.

Other friends and acquaintances were also looking to adopt during this same time, yet their experiences were much more like those recounted in this book. They tried again and again, through agencies, private arrangements, foster care, and so on, and many gave up. Children were placed with them and removed, they went to court time after time, they waited years, and spent thousands of dollars. What was the difference between us and them?

There was a degree of luck on our part, in getting a social worker who was intelligent, unbiased, hard-working, organized, etc. Yet that same woman turned down the application of our friends, saying they needed marriage counseling before they could think of adopting, despite 17 years of marriage.

The biggest difference that I can see is that before we ever walked in the agency door, we read books like this one. We knew what it would cost and saved up the money. We knew there would be questions about child-rearing, religion, race, and so on, and we talked it all out before we went. We knew the pros and cons of each type of
Baby Adoption and deliberately chose a church-based private agency with a viewpoint we agreed with. We also were completely, totally, 100% honest and open, and still are, with the agency, the birth parents, the judges, our families, and our children, who have pictures and letters from the Moms and Dads that made them.

If you want to adopt you don’t have to go to China or Rumania, unless you want to. You don’t have to spend $25,000 to “buy” a baby, unless you want to. There are hundreds of babies here at home, and they need you as much as you need them. But you never get something without working for it. Do your homework first! Read this book!

Good Karma Guaranteed (and Maybe Money Too)!

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

Would you like to become a free-software hero and at the same time promote freedom of the press and human rights? Maybe even get paid for doing so? Become part of the Campware developer roster. Read on.
If you are an open source developer willing to help independent news media survive and prosper worldwide, look no further: become part of the Campware developer roster.

Campware’s aim is to produce the best software tools for news media battling government oppression or media-conglomerate dominance. This is arguably one of the best causes around. You can help immediately.

As Campware software-development projects are largely funded through project grants, we can’t afford to keep large development teams on long-term contracts. We also can’t afford to pay for the period spent getting acquainted with our code base (though our handful of core developers will gladly provide a helping hand). At times, however, urgent and exciting projects come our way, carrying bigger or smaller cashloads. So, down the line, we are even able to pay you for your continuing support to a great cause.

HOWTO Earn Good Karma Points:

  1. Get acquainted with our code,
  2. Ask one of our core developers (contact@campware.org) to assign you one of the outstanding Campsite, LiveSupport, or Docmint tasks. You may even suggest contributing a feature (or features) of your own.
  3. Once you are finished, if the results pass the muster, they will become part of the Campware code base.
  4. If you contribute code, you will have the opportunity to become part of the Campware developer roster.

HOWTO Earn Money:

  1. Once you are on the roster, if projects and grants come our way, we’ll come your way and ask you to help.
  2. You will be paid for your help. Compensation may vary from project to project.

If you like what you’ve read above, you can apply by writing to contact@campware.org.

Le Flamant rose

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006
